You are doing amazing work! Are you pursuing a master’s program while in Haiti? My son is a PCV in the DR and I am wondering what he will do after service.
Thanks Anonymous! No I’m not pursuing a master’s program here. Though there are a fair amount of people pursuing graduate studies while working for between 3-12 months here in Haiti. Especially in the area of public health (Gheskio is a popular destination).
I’m glad to hear your son is in the PCDR club, we’re a very select group, you know :)
There are always opportunities here in Haiti. It’s best to speak French or Haitian Creole, but even if you don’t, it’s not necessarily a deal-breaker. CHF, Plan Int’l, Concern, World Vision, Doctors without Borders, those are some of the big orgs here. Obviously the UN and its various branches too. But there are many smaller orgs, and the work there is often more satisfying. I’d be happy to talk to him.
Hi,
We just came back from Haiti and we’re working on a documentary on Cap Haitian and we would love to use a couple of your photos. We will give you credit for those. Please let us know as soon as you can. We would like to release the documentary next week.
You have my permission to use my photos, however, I should be clear that not all the photos are mine. Please let me know which you are interested in, just to make sure I’m not giving permission for another’s work. Thanks.
Hello. I just came across your blog looking at pictures of the Citadel on the Internet. I am an Irish expereinced Chartered Accountant living and working in the Turks & Caicos Islands (just north of Haiti). I have been visiting Haiti for years and have grown to love it. In December just past I was in Cap Hatien, Milot and visited the palace. I have been gutted to watch the suffering and devestation and have finally decided that I want to come and work there. I did speak to Anne Hastings last summer about a CFO position, but there was still a Haitian in the role, which is obviously much preferable. I do not (yet!) speak Creole. Anyway, after reading your post above, I thought you might be a good person to advise on what other NGO’s might be worth looking into at this stage. I am actually in PAP tomorrow. Any advice gratefully received! Best regards, Niamh
