For those of you who haven’t seen Amazon.com’s electronic reading device, the Kindle, go check it out right now. I just figured out how to overcome the fact that in Haiti I can’t connect to Amazon’s wireless Wispernet network – and now I can download books, magazines, and newspapers directly to my Kindle.
This is a revolutionary development for me. It’s like my own personal information revolution, in fact. I spent this morning brushing up on news back in the beautiful Bay Area. It turns out that things are so good these days for Your Black Muslim Bakery and that Gavin Newsom has decided to run for governor of California (and he announced it on Twitter and Facebook – a very technology-savvy move). Fantastic!
In particular, for anyone who travels frequently, and especially for those traveling for long periods of time, the Kindle is a great asset. You can load up to 1,500 books onto your Kindle and take them wherever you go, and instead of lugging around pounds and pounds of books, you’ll be carrying around a slim, light 10 ounce frame. Fantastic!
I just thought I should pass it along. Anyhow, this concludes the Kindle advertisement.
